I’m excited to share that the City of South Fulton’s Department of Public Affairs has won the 2024 Gold MarCom Award for Strategic Communications for our work on the South Fulton Electric Vehicle Initiative. From the start, my vision for this department was to build an award-winning team, combining seasoned professionals and eager learners. By focusing on “finding the story within the story,” we’re bringing South Fulton’s accomplishments to life in impactful ways and setting a new standard in public engagement.
The City of South Fulton’s Department of Public Affairs recently received the 2024 Gold MarCom Award in Strategic Communications, a recognition of our team’s hard work and forward-thinking approach to public engagement. This award marks a milestone in our journey—a journey I envisioned from the start. When I first interviewed for the role to lead this newly formed department, I outlined a vision of dedication, drive, and transformation. I committed to building an award-winning department that would elevate South Fulton’s brand and position our city as a model of innovative public communications.
From the beginning, I knew that assembling the right team was key. I sought to create a mix of experienced professionals and fresh talent eager to learn. This combination has given us the flexibility and strength to tackle complex projects creatively and effectively. I have always emphasized the importance of “finding the story within the story.” To me, this means not just presenting a single narrative but uncovering multiple angles to engage our community on different levels. By telling a story in three or four distinct ways, we drive the narrative forward and give it the depth that resonates with our diverse audiences.
Our recent project, the South Fulton Electric Vehicle Initiative, is an example of this approach. This initiative goes beyond sustainability; it represents our city’s commitment to innovation, community improvement, and environmental responsibility. By highlighting various aspects of the project—its economic, environmental, and social benefits—we connected with our residents in a multifaceted way that positioned the initiative as a transformative milestone for South Fulton. Winning the Gold MarCom Award for this project highlights our commitment to impactful storytelling and effective communication.
This recognition validates the promise made in my interview: to build a department that would lead with excellence and set a new standard for public communications. For me, this award is a testament to our team’s hard work and dedication, but it’s also just the beginning. We will continue expanding our efforts in branding, marketing, and engagement, striving to tell the stories of South Fulton in ways that inspire and connect with our community.
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the entire Public Affairs team. Your hard work, creativity, and commitment have made this award possible. Each of you has contributed to bringing our vision to life, elevating South Fulton’s story and impact. Thank you for your dedication and for being an essential part of our journey to excellence. Together, we’re making a difference!
