Every so often, a project comes along that feels bigger than strategy, design, or even the goals on paper — it feels like purpose. For me, the SoFu So Clean Beautification Initiative was exactly that — a campaign born from a simple idea: to inspire pride, responsibility, and beauty throughout the City of South Fulton.

That’s why I’m beyond thrilled to share that SoFu So Clean has been honored with two Gold MarCom Awards — one for Animation and another for Activity Book Creation — along with two Honorable Mentions for our You Are Here and SoFu So Clean billboard campaign.

The MarCom Awards is an international competition recognizing creative excellence in marketing and communications, with more than 6,500 entries from around the world. To see these projects celebrated among such an incredible field of professionals is deeply humbling.

What makes this recognition even more meaningful is that SoFu So Clean was developed entirely in-house — from concept to execution — as a true passion project. It began with a question: How do we encourage residents to take pride in their neighborhoods in a way that feels uplifting, not corrective? From that question came a vision — a campaign rooted in creativity, positivity, and connection.

The Logo and Identity

The SoFu So Clean Beautification logo was designed to feel alive — bright, hopeful, and modern — reflecting a city on the rise and appealing to children. The animation of the Eagle from our primary logo was a step forward, looking to inspire change in behavior. The design symbolizes community, while the clean typography and motion-inspired elements give it forward momentum, reinforcing the idea that beautification is an active, ongoing effort.

The Activity Book

The award-winning SoFu So Clean Activity Book became one of my favorite creative projects. I wanted to create something that not only educated children about litter prevention and recycling but also empowered them to be ambassadors of change. The book combines learning with fun — featuring word searches, coloring pages, matching games, and community challenges — all centered around actual locations within South Fulton, on keeping our neighborhoods beautiful. It was important to me that kids saw themselves represented in the illustrations, with diverse characters that reflect the vibrancy of South Fulton. Watching children engage with it — coloring pages, proudly showing their completed challenges — reminded me why storytelling matters in public service.

The Billboards

Our billboards — both SoFu So Clean and You Are Here — were designed to capture attention and emotion at first glance. The You Are Here series served as a visual reminder that every corner of South Fulton matters, while the SoFu So Clean billboards carried a message of collective responsibility. Strategically placed throughout the city, they turned everyday commutes into moments of pride. These installations became more than signage — they became statements of identity and belonging.

Each piece — from the logo to the animation, the book to the billboards — work together to tell one cohesive story: that when we care for where we live, we strengthen who we are.

This recognition isn’t just a personal achievement; it’s a testament to the power of creative communication to build community. SoFu So Clean will always hold a special place in my heart because it reminds me that even the smallest spark of an idea grows into something extraordinary — something that moves people, connects neighbors, and changes how a city sees itself.

Because when we tell our story with authenticity and purpose, the world doesn’t just notice — it celebrates with us.
